General Motors hosted Quality Week from November 20-24 at its Korean Operations, emphasizing the company's commitment to achieving zero-defect quality and fostering a mature Quality Culture.
Under the company's "Earn Trust through Quality and Safety" slogan, the Quality Week campaign rolled out ▲ product displays & quality fairs ▲ quality forums ▲ a quality best practice contest ▲ a Quality Observation Tour. These programs examined and shared areas for improving the quality of the company's products, laying the foundation for reinforcing the trust of customers and reaching the pinnacle of quality within GM.
Hector Villarreal, CEO and president of GM’s Korean Operations and Adalberto Torrealba, vice president of Quality at GM International, led the Quality Observation Tour, accompanied by GM employees. The activity focused on examining the safety and quality of GM's products, thereby reaffirming the commitment to achieving zero-defect quality.
Torrealba, the champion of Quality Week, remarked: "The products manufactured at GM’s Korean Operations have earned great global acclaim, which is a testament to the hard work of our employees in producing flawless products. Quality Week serves as a valuable reminder of the importance of quality and offers an opportunity to further enhance our commitment to achieving even higher levels of quality.”
GM's Korean Operations have conducted Quality Culture campaigns since 2021. They have included various activities to secure a leadership position in quality competitiveness within GM. Initiatives such as regular Quality Talks and employee Quality Recognition programs, and the establishment of a communication system for sharing quality information, are examples of the company’s dedication to fostering a company-wide Quality Culture that will ensure the delivery of consistently high-quality products.
GM’s Korean Operations' finished car assembly plants in Bupyeong and Changwon, and engine and transmission plants in Bupyeong, Changwon and Boryeong, maintain the highest level of manufacturing quality (Level 4) according to GM's Global Manufacturing System (GMS) and Built In Quality (BIQ). BIQ Level 4 indicates that the manufacturing process is equipped with an excellent manufacturing quality management system that guarantees the highest level of quality and ensures that defects do not leave the factory.
